LECTURE

  • Visual information culture - explosion of visual images

  • Express information in visual forms

  • Visualizing information has been there since map-making and statistics with graphic

  • This is responsible with the rise of statistical thinking and data collection throughout the 19th century

  • The goal of visualizing information is to reveal the intricacy of the world in uncomplicated terms

    • Displays through spatial, quantitative and chronological relationships

TASK

We were asked to organize a set of data in class. Miss Anis prepared for us two choices; buttons and Legos. I immediately chose the Legos because the colors are very entertaining visually. I chose the warm orange colored Legos and immediately started sorting out the Legos I have in hand.

Figure 1.1 Legos I picked

Based on the lecture Miss Anis gave, I first sort the data and while thinking of a way to present it visually. So, I started experimenting on different ways I can sort the Legos.

Figure 1.2 Legos separated based on shapes

Figure 1.3 Trying to sort them out more

There are a couple of blocks I don't know which to fit them in with. Afterwards, I finally sorted them well enough to separate them based on colors and their types.

I then went on my iPad and worked on the text to explain how I sort these Legos.

Figure 1.5 Added explanations

I fixed a little bit after asking for a little bit of feedback from Miss Anis in class.

FEEDBACK

WEEK 1 (06.01.2022)
  • Could add more explanation to what the the infographic is showing (which is warm colored Legos)

REFLECTION

Offline class! We met Mister Martin and Miss Anis for the first time and it's exciting. I also felt more productive and my creativity flowed nicely in class. I had a couple of ideas working on this and I think I executed it well. A really nice introduction to the class.
