Exercise 2

TASK

Instructions

Location / Alphabet / Time / Category / Hierarchy

We were assigned to organize a group of information into a visual poster that combined and utilizes the LATCH principles (min. 4 out of Location / Alphabet / Time / Category / Hierarchy).

Requirements

Size resolution: 1240 × 1750 pixels or 2048 × 2048 pixels

Use a digital photo editing / illustration software available to assemble the pokemons into a LATCH infographic poster. You can re-use back the images of the monsters, but do create the rest of your own visuals to complete the poster.

The recommended group of information was pokemon. However, since I do not know much about pokemon in the first place, I went ahead and take Genshin Impact as the main source of information for the infographic as I know about Genshin Impact a lot.

I had a few initial ideas on what to do with the information. It is a bit challenging to sort all the information within 4 principles of LATCH. Here is the idea progression.

So based on Miss Anis' feedback, I can just sort the information based on the characters that I main in order to fit them all in one poster. Afterwards, I did several tries on Illustrator. The reason I use illustrator is because I want to practice more and it does get a bit more technical than using Procreate on my iPad.

For this one, I had to take several PNGs from the internet, however on most part I either retrace.

After working on it for quite some time, I decided that I do not like the layout, something about it is lacking. I removed a couple elements and changed the orientation.

I do feel like it is still lacking so I edit some more, redid the map and try out a new concept.

First thing first, I redraw the genshin map on iPad.

The next step I did was create a clipping mask and create a sort of 'globe' from the genshin map.

Here is the result, I just had to rearrange the information, marking legend to create a more informative infographic. I also added paterns in the background to create a more neutral space to read.

I adjusted the colors and font size, finalizing the poster. Here is the final Infographic Poster.

FEEDBACK

WEEK 2 (13.01.2022) :
  • Try reducing the amount of characters that is going to be in the infographic as it won't fit. Also try incorporating time instead of alphabet into the 4 principles as it would be easier.

REFLECTION

This is a bit frustrating to work with, I personally think it was because the amount of principle that has to be used; it is quite a lot. The space given is super small too I have to trick a few things to fit everything in but not overcrowd it. I think I manage to make an informative infographic, and it looks attractive from afar, so I am quite satisfied with this exercise.
