INSTRUCTION
TASK
Project 1 consists of several audio editing assignments. Unfortunately, I
deleted the first and second assignment screenshots of
progression.
Part 1 - Sound for Visual
Choose or record sound clips to be used to create sound
effects to bring a video clip to live. The clips will be provided.
Students are required to identify the visual components from the video
clip that needs sound.
For this one, we had to add voice-overs, background audio to a clip from
the movie Soul.
Part 2 - Sound Shaping
Students will be given a choice of scenarios and they have to pick one and create the soundscape for the chosen scenario.
For this sound shaping exercise, we were to use Audition and recreate
several different audio scenario.
Here
is what I ended up with.
Part 3 - Stretch and Pitch
For our third task, we were to create 3 different sounds from samples given
from Sir Martin, all utilizing layering, stretch and pitch on
Audition.
First one was an exaggeration of an existing explosion sound. For this I
used a bunch of stretch and pitch, mostly making it lower. I also utilized
reverse effect to create buildup, I mainly followed sir martin's tutorial
for this one.
I ended up with a total of 5 different sounds of explosion merged into one
to create an exaggerated version of an explosion.
I then went ahead and did the punches, this one I played only with stretch
and pitch, creating one lower and another one higher, layered them and
created the triple punch sound, which in my ear sounds good for a triple
punch sfx in a game/movie.

For the third exercise, we were asked to create either a monster or an
alien. Initially I went with alien but after layering a couple of distorted,
lower pitches and stretches of the same sound I initially took from the
sample voice, I ended up with more of a big friendly monster sound. I am
quite satisfied with the outcome.

REFLECTION
Audio editing exercises are fun, I am very interested in sound engineering
since the beginning and learning this made me have another skill under my
belt that surely will come in handy later on. I am also quite surprised with
some of the tools available from Audition, and there's really no right or
wrong answer for tasks like this. I am quite free with whatever I am doing
here and I enjoyed it.
