FINAL TASK

Here's what I did to finalize my prototype :

  • Added Cutscenes in the beginning, the end + conversations
  • Added UI (Health Bar + Pause Button + Pause Overlay)
  • Added Sound Effect
  • Added animation for my character to move left and right
  • Redid the whole background (make it larger)

Lastly, fixed the bugs. Ah but the bugs were just too buggy. I encountered more bugs when I did not even change any of the settings too, so that's great. The coding was getting too overwhelming and at the end I could not manage to do the oxygen bubble mechanic too, that was disappointing.

Here's another bug when working on the health bar. I tried doing the health bar for hours when I could have just followed sir razif's old tutorial, it was really simple too.

But don't worry, the health bar bug did not persist, I fixed the issue.

Here's a snippet of the cutscene.

I did not have much screenshot when working on this. I can show my AI files screenshot though.

Another thing about unity, I was unsure on how to do layer modes like soft light, (cmiiw but it's not available in unity directly) so what was shown in AI is a bit different than in unity. But I deal with it and just follow through.

For the walkthrough video presentation, I have to make it easier for me to demo, so I had  the puzzle mark as completed already, however the version of the one im uploading to WEBgl, I will shuffle the puzzle upon entering, so players have to solve it first to leave the "scene".

This is my presentation for the final prototype.

REFLECTION

Honestly I just wish I had more time and be less stressed working on this, I swear I could have finished this if there was more time and I was less burnt out. I understand everyone's tired around this time tho. Nevertheless trust me when I say I tried my hardest, and the best I can do with this much time is this. There were so many sleepless nights, my timezone shifts just to figure out one small thing that is wrong within the game. I find the trouble shoooting part more difficult than anything. This was one hell of an experience and I so hope next time I use unity it won't be as trauma inducing like this one. I am sure this lesson is very useful tho and if I will make games again it would be easier than this.
