Project 1 & 2

PROJECT 1

For this task, we were assigned to create an instructable infographic based from a video we choose from the Pasta Granny YouTube channel. For mine, I chose Adi's video about her palermo

We were to study the video, breakdown and chunk the preparation and cooking process into an instructable poster. Try to capture each Grandma’s personality and unique dish identity in your poster as part of the narrative structure. In this project, we are supposed to apply all the FLIP information given since the first week of class.

Here are a couple of examples of recipe infographic I found in the internet and took inspiration from.

Both of them has good chunking and flow which inspires me to get started.

First of all I start with chunking the information from the video.

Then, I started with the sketch,

I sent the sketch to Miss Anis and she gave me the green light to start working on the infographic.

Like any other of my projects, it seems that I'm once again struggling with my color choices and felt like I need some more element so it does not look plain. So afterwards, I try to add more colors and try to tie to the backstory of Adi.

I made some more changes to the details before landing on the final poster.

PROJECT 2

Continuing the project, we were instructed to create an animated motion graphic video based on the previous project.

Use the assets from Project 1 Instructable Infographic poster into a 60 secs motion graphic.
Once again, we were to capture the aesthetics and narrative of the poster with movements, SFX and music.

Before doing anything I came up with the story board to help myself chunk the information from the infographics.

This project is pretty self explanatory. I had a lot of helps from YouTube regarding transitions and ideas. The tutorials given from Mr Martin since the previous weeks also helped a lot, especially in animating by using null object.

It is important for me to seperate the file into individual files before importing them to AE to start on the animation.

Afterwards I compiled all the exported videos from AE and added songs and sfx in Premiere Pro. I specifically chose an italian old songs to create a homey atmosphere.

I then rendered and uploaded the video on YouTube.

FEEDBACK

WEEK 5 : Adding a background to the icon looks fine, perhaps something with a more neutral contrast color against the background

REFLECTION

Working on this is pretty fun although I had a lot of time to self reflect a lot. I worked really hard on this even if it looks a bit plain, I put a lot of time thinking and organizing, however I still feel like it's lacking a little bit and there are probably certain elements I can eliminate. Nevertheless, I had a pretty enjoyable time with the course as it is my first offline class in ages and the individual work is pretty fun to do.
